Pantanal lodges image

The best way to see the Pantanal is to stay on a fazenda (farm), several of which have built comfortable lodges with knowledgeable local guides.

Our preferred accommodation

  • Araras Eco Lodge image

    Araras Eco Lodge

    Lodge/Hosteria - Northern Pantanal
On the Transpantaneira road 90 minutes south from Cuiabá, this lodge has been established for a number of years and is very well set up for wildlife viewing. The bilingual guides are very knowledgable and the accommodation is comfortable. It can be accessed by road all year round.
  • Fazenda Barranco Alto image

    Fazenda Barranco Alto

    Estancia/Ranch - Southern Pantanal
This is a small pousada in a very pretty setting, with grass fields sloping down to the river at the front of the house, and horses, cows and rheas roaming all around. Young owners Luis and Marina are young and full of enthusiasm for the Pantanal, and are expert birders and riders - they also speak english very well, and give clients their full personal attention.
  • Pousada Aguapé Lodge image

    Pousada Aguapé Lodge

    Estancia/Ranch - Southern Pantanal
A lovely farm on the edge of the Pantanal, with easy access by road from either Campo Grande or Aquidauana, this has been run by the same family for 150 years, and they give real personal attention to their guests.
  • Pousada do Rio Mutúm image

    Pousada do Rio Mutúm

    Lodge/Hosteria - Northern Pantanal
The lodge is situated on the Rio Mutúm between lakes Sia Mariana and Chacorore within one of the most beautiful regions of the Northern Pantanal. The area is rich in bird and wildlife and all meals and guided excursions are included. Lovely gardens and swimming pool overlooking the lagoon.
  • Refugio Caiman image

    Refugio Caiman

    Estancia/Ranch - Southern Pantanal
The Refugio Ecologico Caiman is 147 miles west of Campo Grande, on the southern edge of the Pantanal, and is part of a 53,000 hectare ranch. During the high season (June - September) guests must stay 3 or 4 nights, arriving on a Thursday or a Sunday. No children under 8 years old.
