Description

In a unique setting in the heart of Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta at 1,500 metres above sea level, with views to the distant Caribbean sea. This area offers an incredible biodiversity of flora and fauna and it is a prime destination for birdwatchers, with 628 bird species found here, 20 of which are endemic. The house is surrounded by rainforest and coffee fields, and most afternoons rising clouds flood the house and then fade into the sky leaving a breath-taking sunset. All meals and drinks are included (excluding bottled soft drinks and alcohol).

Activities

A number of experiences are included, with the English-speaking host and guide. There are leisurely nature walks focussing on the local flora, fauna and birdlife; more demanding treks of 6-8 hours; coffee harvesting by hand (during the season October to December); or cooking lessons with the lodge’s chef. Birdwatching excursions with an expert local guide and yoga sessions are available at an additional cost.

Accommodation

The lodge has just 4 bedrooms, with views of the mountains or jungle. Guests have private use of the whole lodge which also has lovely common areas - a living room with fireplace, open-concept kitchen and dining area, a large deck with fire pit, and garden.
