Chile is set to open a new national park at the southern tip of the Brunswick Peninsula. Covering nearly 400,000 acres, Cabo Froward National Park will become the 18th addition to Chile's renowned ‘Route of the Parks’ and the first park donated by Rewilding Chile. The reserve will protect a spectacular landscape of sub-Antarctic forests, peatlands, glaciers, fjords, and rugged coastline along the Strait of Magellan, safeguarding one of the country's most ecologically significant and pristine wilderness areas.

Heading even further south, one of our Antarctica partners has unveiled an exciting new voyage for 2027. The 24-night Bellingshausen Sea expedition follows in the wake of the great polar explorers, venturing along the rarely visited western side of the Antarctic Peninsula, where the historic Belgica Expedition (1897–1899) made its pioneering journey.

This adventurous expedition offers a unique opportunity to explore some of Antarctica's most remote and seldom-visited regions, travelling deep into the Bellingshausen Sea, along the dramatic coastline of Ellsworth Land, and onwards to the isolated Peter I Island.

Weather and ice conditions permitting, guests will have the extraordinary opportunity to attempt a helicopter landing on the glaciated northern reaches of Peter I Island—one of the most remote islands on Earth. This is a truly unique chance to set foot on one of the most remote islands in the world.

This is a one-off departure, sailing on 14 January 2027 aboard Ortelius. The voyage begins and ends in Ushuaia.

In Rio de Janeiro, a spectacular new viewpoint has opened to the public for the first time. The Mirante do Alto Corcovado opens onto sweeping panoramic views across Rio's breathtaking landscape of mountains, Atlantic rainforest and ocean, providing a fresh perspective from one of the city's most iconic locations. While Christ the Redeemer remains the unmistakable highlight of Corcovado, the new viewpoint gives visitors the opportunity to pause and fully appreciate the extraordinary scenery that surrounds the monument.

If you are planning a visit to Christ the Redeemer over the coming months, it's worth noting that a major programme of renovation and accessibility improvements is due to begin next month and is expected to continue until July 2027. During this period, visitors should expect construction activity in parts of the site, and some viewpoints and photo opportunities may be temporarily affected depending on the stage of the works.
