Peru holidays : introduction
Peru is a diverse, unique and fascinating country. Witness to the rise and fall of ancient cultures and empires that left their mark on the landscape, this Andean country is endowed with an extraordinary richness in natural beauty. While first time visitors cannot miss the Inca citadel of Machu Picchu, the rest of the country offers everything from trekking and rafting to the enigmatic coastal cultures of the Moche and the mysterious Nasca lines.
It is easy to combine visits to Peru with Bolivia, Brazil, Ecuador and the Galapagos, and Venezuela.
Climate and when to go
April to October is the dry season in the mountains, with hot days and cold nights, and is the best time to visit, especially if you are hiking. In the Amazon it is humid and hot year-round, with particularly frequent rainfall between November and April. On the coast summer lasts from December to April with hot dry conditions and temperatures between 25 and 35°C. Between May and November the southern coast suffers from the garua, a blanket of sea-mist.
“We would like to express our sincere thanks for the wonderful journey through Peru and Brazil. You really worked out an extremely good itinerary for us.” - IS
“We had a great time on our trip and have come back with many happy memories, not to mention a lot of photographs that need sorting out. We were very impressed with the organisation and everything worked well, being met and picked up as planned without any hitches. The guides were all excellent.” - PW
“We had a fantastic holiday and can not thank you enough for helping us to have such a wonderful experience in Peru, and it is such a shame that we were unable to go for longer, as I'm sure there are many other fantastic places to visit there!” - NB
“We had a really wonderful time - and were so impressed that all your arrangements worked so smoothly, even when there was only a short time to change flights all the bags arrived safely. And your choice of guides/trips/hotels was excellent. Galapagos was wonderful, perfect weather, warm water, SEVERAL whale-sharks! And Machu Picchu was even better than the pictures. Finally we had a good wind-down on Copacabana beach with our cousins. Many, many thanks once again.” - NS
