Brazil holidays : introduction
Stretching from the Andes to the Atlantic, Brazil contains most of the Amazon jungle, endless beaches, the mighty Iguassu Falls, and the largest wetland in the world, the Pantanal. The country’s sheer size is vital to bear in mind when planning a visit. Brazil buzzes with energy and a sense of fun, which reaches a crescendo every February as Carnival brings everything to a standstill. Brazil is easily combined with Argentina, Chile, or Guyana, and flights to La Paz and Lima make connections with Bolivia and Peru possible.
Climate and when to go
Average temperatures increase from south to north, and humidity can be high especially near the coast. In the Amazon the wettest months are March to May, in the north-east May and June, and in the south December to March. Even in Rio it can get surprisingly cold in July and August, so for guaranteed warmth at this time head for the north-east.
“The holiday was just a dream, everything worked liked clockwork and the hotels were wonderful. Staying by the Iguassu Falls on the Brazilian side was certainly the right thing to do, what a treat to have the walkways to ourselves once the visitors had gone for the day. Buenos Aires has become our favourite city, especially for the tango and we would like to go back there every year if we can. Thanks for all your help organising it for us.” - SB
“Back from our trip now and we had an absolutely amazing time! Thanks very much for your work on our behalf - everything went like clockwork. The Pantanal was particularly special and they took very good care of us at the eco-lodge. Best of all I got to speak Portuguese to lots of people with varying degrees of success. Richard has taken about a billion photographs. Everybody's happy!” - AH
“Brazil was amazing, it was the holiday of a lifetime!! Iguazu was beautiful, and we made sure we saw both sides of the falls plus one of the boat trips to the falls. The Amazon was incredible, and just so far removed from anything we had seen before. Buzios was beautiful as well, we hired a sand buggy and spent our time there exploring the beaches.
Thanks you so much for helping us organise a perfect honeymoon. You have really given us a truly personal service with great advice. We will definitely be recommending you and Last Frontiers to any friends who are thinking of travelling to South America.” - RW“Thank you so much for organising such a wonderful honeymoon and all the work you did for our Gift List.” - NG
