Diving holidays in Latin America
Summary
Latin America offers some of the finest diving in the world and has the longest coral reef in the western hemisphere just off Belize. The Galapagos attracts experienced divers from all over the world for the large number of pelagic fishes. For tropical species in warm water, the Los Roques archipelago north of Venezuela is a wonderful experience. The north-east coast of Brazil also offers good diving, particularly off the island of Fernando de Noronha. In Central America, there are world renowned sites throughout the continent stretching north from Costa Rica, notably the famous Blue hole in Belize, Roatan in Honduras and Mexico’s Yucatán Peninsula and Caribbean coast. Furthermore, if you fly KLM to Ecuador you are allowed a free stopover on the Dutch Caribbean island of Bonaire which offers some of the best off-beach diving/snorkelling in the world.
