Peruvian Amazon and Andes

Showing the natural diversity of Peru starting in the steamy Amazon, spotting wildlife, cruising on the Delfin to the unspoilt Pacaya Samiria National Park, then heading south to explore the Inca way of life, the cool nights of the Andes and the spectacular Machu Picchu.

Lima

Day 1: Met at Lima airport, then driven to the Swissotel for 1 night.

Iquitos

Days 2-5: Driven to the airport then fly to Iquitos in the early morning. Transfer for an hour and half by road then embark the Delfin for the next 4 nights. The cabins are air-conditioned and very comfortable if a little small! Enjoy the excursions by motorised skiff or on foot, spotting wildlife, catching piranhas and visiting local villages. The unspoilt Pacaya Samiria National Park is a highlight.

Day 6: Disembark the Delfin and spend some time in Iquitos before staying at the El Dorado Plaza for 1 night.

Arequipa

Days 7-8: Fly from Iquitos to Arequipa via Lima. Met and transferred to the homely, boutique Azul Colonial for the next 2 nights. Enjoy a guided half day tour of Arequipa including a visit to the Santa Catalina convent.

Lake Titicaca

Days 9-10: Transfer by road from Arequipa to Puno with a stop at the archaeological site of Sillustani en route. Stay at Posada del Inca for 2 nights and enjoy a guided tour of Uros and Taquile Island on Lake Titicaca.

Cusco

Day 11: Transfer by comfortable bus from Puno to Cusco with stops en route. Stay at the Casa Andina Private Collection Cusco for 1 night. The restaurant is wonderful if you need a good meal!

Sacred Valley

Days 12-13: Take a guided tour to visit Moray and Maras in the Sacred Valley and stay for 2 nights at the Urubamba Boutique Lodge. Enjoy a guided tour to Pisac and the impressive fortress of Ollantaytambo the following day.

Cusco

Day 14: Transfer to the train station at Ollantaytambo and then take the Vistadome train to visit the Citadel of Machu Picchu. Enjoy a guided tour in the afternoon, then take the train back to Cusco for a final night at the Casa Andina Private Collection.

Lima

Day 15: Transfer to the airport and fly to Lima.
