Peru Family Adventure - activity and culture

A varied family adventure from Amazonas Explorer, perfect for Easter or Summer holidays, with biking and hiking mixed into wonderful cultural experiences. Suitable for over 8's. Extensions possible - for example the Amazon, or staying with a local family on Lake Titicaca.

Lima

Day 1: Arrive into Lima for a night in the airport hotel.

Cusco

Days 2-4: Fly to Cusco for 3 nights, and enjoy a day of riding (easy level), rafting in the Rio Urubamba (no experience necessary) and visits to the key heritage sites in this wonderful city.

Sacred Valley

Days 5-6: Do some fun inflatable canoeing, then continue to Pisac. Hike round the ruins above the town and transfer to a beautiful hacienda. Visit Chinchero for a full day mountain bike ride, down Inca trails to Maras and the impressive salt flats.

Machu Picchu

Days 7-9: Take the train to Km 104 for the start of the one day Inca Trail. Arrive at the Sun Gate and see the Machu Picchu ruins spread out below. Stay in Aguas Calientes and return next morning for a tour of the site. Return to Cusco for 2 nights.

Lima

Day 10: Fly to Lima for onward connections.
